Proud to be standing alongside the Shama Books team in Addis Ababa who published an Ethiopian version of Imperial Exile. Also chuffed to receive the enlarged phot of the title cover as a present.
Just got this photo of the entrance hall at the Emperor’s former palace in Addis Ababa, now the home of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies.
I gave a lecture at this historical venue a few weeks ago – spot the two big posters by the open door promoting Imperial Exile.
Thanks to Yemane Tsegaye for sending me this photo of the Shama bookshop at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa. Great to see Imperial Exile in the thick of it!
Was pleased to receive a namecheck in a recent newsletter of Ben Howlett MP who represents Bath. This is what he wrote: “It is a little known fact that Emperor Haile Selassie of Abyssinian spent his exile in the Second World War here in Bath. If you want to read more about it there is a great book by Keith Bowers.”
I have had some great support in Ethiopia during the launch of Imperial Exile. This photo was taken after dinner at the Greek Club in Addis Ababa.
A rather startled selfie with the chat show host Tefera Ghedimu after I appeared on his interview programme on Ethiopian television!
